Madness are an English band from London, that formed in 1976. One of the most prominent bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s. They continue to perform with their most recognised line-up of seven members.
One of Madness's most recognised songs is "Baggy Trousers." This song came out in 1980. In the 1980s football casuals came on to the scene. Madness was a band affiliated with a certain football club, Chelsea. Even though Madness were not that big. Everyone known with Chelsea knew who Madness were.
Throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s Madness got even bigger. Reaching to audiences across the whole country.

The video was set in a school, so this could also appeal to children in schools, both in primary and secondary can relate to it. The song is about the band looking back at their school days. One of the lyrics goes "All i learnt at school, was how to bend and break the rules." Madness are reaching out to a large audience, boys misbehaving at school will like this song.
Baggy Trousers spent 20 weeks in the UK charts and reached a high of number 3. The song was the 11th best selling single song in the whole of 1980.
